How did you feel about the end of the series? What moments did you feel
were particularly poignant or problematic? How did your feelings towards
Dumbledore and Snape change? About Harry, Ron, and Hermione? Why?
In addition, now that you have finished the series, how would you place it in a large social/cultural context?
Please be specific! There are many ways you might answer these
questions, so make your response interesting and unique to your
perspective on the series, and include direct references to certain
moments in the story. You do not need to address everything. In fact,
please don't! Rather, please choose a particular angle or two and zero
in on it/them
Being a first time reader, made me a lifetime fan. Besides 50 shades of grey, there has never been a book series that I really enjoyed reading. Especially for a class. Harry Potter made me feel like I was apart of their story and really in the book with them. The way that everything ends up was surprisingly really great, just like everyone said it was going to be. I NEVER imagined Potter and Ginny getting together, and I really never EVER imagined Ron and Hermione getting together and happily married. It seemed like it was fate though that brought them together from the beginning so Rowling really did a great job to end the trio.
I really despised Snape from the beginning, I thought he was really frustrating but surprised me from being in the Order of Phoenix to finding out that he was really in love with Lily Potter and was trying to protect Harry the whole time. It was such a turn of events. The way that Dumbledore dies makes him so much more honorable to me because he knew that he was going to have to die eventually but didnt want to go down without a fight. This whole serious was a emotional roller coaster of wild events that I would have never predicted would have happened. I really am glad I took the class although I did not really want to. It was a great experience and now I cant wait to watch the movies!! (:
The books really arent about wizards at all but more about friendship, love, family, and loyalty. Harry struggles for a while with it all but he finds himself along with his friends. The series gives great life lessons on how to treat people who your close to and know who to trust.
