At the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,
Harry discovers that he is the master of the Elder Wand, although the wand is
technically in the possession of Lord Voldemort. When the two duel, Voldemort’s
Killing Curse backfires and kills him, as the Elder Wand will not kill its true
master. After Voldemort’s demise, Harry decides to use the power of the Elder
Wand to repair his old holly wand with the phoenix feather core, and place the
Elder Wand back into Dumbledore’s grave. Harry feels as though enough people
have died because of the Elder Wand and surmises that if he, the Wand’s master,
dies a natural death, the Wand’s extraordinary powers will be nullified.
